Hi, we’re Will & Yadi.
We make China Life Kit together: practical guides, videos, and a closer look at everyday life in China. Here’s a little of the story that brought us here.
From my time in Sydney
I’m Will.
In Sydney, I kept missing my bus stop and paying more than I needed to. I hadn’t realised I needed to press a button to get off, or tap my card again when leaving. At the time, I didn’t even know what I needed to ask.
I’ve worked in international trade since graduating. Work and travel have taken me to the US, Australia, Japan, and countries across Southeast Asia and Europe. But being used to travelling doesn’t mean you know how everyday things work when you arrive somewhere new.
That’s why Yadi and I started China Life Kit. In China, the apps, payments, and everyday routines can feel unfamiliar all at once. We want to explain the steps people tend to leave out: what to look for, what to do next, and what to try if it doesn’t work.
From my time in Paris
I’m Yadi.
I studied the culinary arts in Paris. As a chef, I learned as much from the way restaurants worked as from the food: making a reservation, waiting to be shown to a table, and getting used to a different rhythm of service.
Those details made me think about the customs we take for granted at home. When I explain how a Chinese restaurant works, from scanning a menu to placing an order or asking for help, I bring what I’ve learned on both sides of the kitchen door.
Food is a big part of what I want to share, but so is the life around it. Will and I want to take you into neighbourhood restaurants, along ordinary streets, and into the everyday scenes you might otherwise miss. I hope you’ll find something you’d like to experience for yourself.
How we make China Life Kit
Yadi visits places, takes photos, and writes the first drafts. Will checks official sources and films our videos.
We bring those two perspectives together: what the instructions say, and what you actually encounter when you’re there.

Working, studying, and travelling abroad gave us the idea for this project. Through LANDWILL, we’re turning that idea into practical guides, videos, and stories about everyday life in China. We want to help you find your feet here, and share the people and places that make this country feel like home to us.
